2021 5K Virtual Charity Walk

August 30 to September 12, 2021 ~ Location: Your Town, U.S.A

Since our largest fundraiser of the year (Visitor Industry Charity Walk) has been unfortunately canceled here in the islands, we are “hosting” our own Virtual Charity Walk to help raise funds for established scholarships for two of our player students, Reece Pascua and Carter Stockham.

Each of these talented young men graduated from Lahainaluna High school and with the help of Westside Hoops Maui, along with each one of your donations, they were able to begin their educational paths.

Our goal is to assist them in continuing to challenge themselves, grow as men of character and complete what they started.

Now more than ever we need to invest in our Future! These 2 young men are excelling at their respective colleges and we are asking our community to come together as one to help support and encourage their respective journeys.

Below are each of their current stories:

*Upcoming School Year:
This upcoming school year, I will resume my education at Holy Names University through full-online courses for the fall semester, but the spring semester is still unknown at this time.

I am currently enrolled in the courses of Psychology: Statistical Methods, Biology: Human Physiology/Lab, Philosophy: The Human Persons, and Religious Studies: World Wisdom Traditions. The university presently is not open for face-to-face classes, although students are allowed to stay in the dorms if need be, but I have decided to stay home for safety measures and how COVID-19 is still prominent. I will not be going back to campus any time soon, but hopefully once conditions are safer I will be able to return. I also plan to keep up with the extracurricular clubs that I was in last year as well as keeping up my health through exercising and weight lifting that I have been doing over the summer and during this pandemic.

Carter Stockham
Lahainaluna High School
Class of 2018

Arizona State University – Tempe, AZ
Underclass – Third Year
Major – Global Politics (W.P. Carrey School of Business)

-Last semester I achieved a 4.06 despite all the covid challenges.
-Elected vice president of the ASU Men’s Club Volleyball team. Prior to the pandemic our team was ranked second in the nation.

-My biggest goal for the year is to maintain a 4.0 this next semester, while also getting more involved with Feed My Starving Children. Feed My Starving Children is a Christian organization that delivers food to starving people. My role is to help package the meals so they can be shipped to people in need.

*Upcoming School year:
-This upcoming semester will be very different. Four out of my six classes will all be online, the other two will meet one day a week. Since the volleyball season has been cancelled I plan to focus more of my time on boxing, Muay Thai, and submission wrestling.
